With the Polish sandbox for mObywatel now open, regulated organisations in Poland can start preparing their wallet journeys – through a local partner whose platform runs on Lissi’s production-ready EUDI Wallet infrastructure.
Digital Gateways, a Polish provider of identity verification services for regulated organisations, and Lissi GmbH, provider of EUDI Wallet infrastructure software, have entered into a strategic partnership. Digital Gateways becomes an official Lissi partner and offers European Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet) capabilities – customer identification, authentication and the verification of digital attestations – as part of its platform, powered by the Lissi EUDI Wallet Connector. The first Polish institutions are already working on proof-of-concept projects through Digital Gateways.
What this means for banks and insurers in Poland
From the end of 2027, banks, insurers and other regulated organisations across the EU must accept the European Digital Identity Wallet for customer identification and strong authentication (eIDAS 2.0, Article 5f). In Poland, mObywatel will be the national wallet – and with the Polish sandbox now open, organisations can test wallet-based onboarding instead of waiting for the deadline.
Integrating the wallet is not a side project. It means implementing and keeping up with a moving set of European specifications, handling cryptographic trust and registration certificates, testing against every certified national wallet, and operating all of it securely and around the clock. For a mid-sized bank or insurer, building this in-house ties up a team of specialists for a year or more – for a capability that is mandatory but not a differentiator.
The partnership gives Polish organisations a different path: one local partner who understands their regulatory environment, their systems and their language – and behind it an infrastructure that is already tested across Europe.
A European solution, delivered locally
The Lissi EUDI Wallet Connector is designed to work with all certified national EUDI Wallets. It is used by financial institutions and identity providers across Europe, tested in the EU Large-Scale Pilots and in national sandboxes such as Germany’s – and it supports the full range of wallet use cases, from PID-based identification and strong customer authentication to the issuance and verification of attestations and qualified electronic signatures. Changes to the specifications and newly certified wallets are tracked and delivered as part of the software, so Digital Gateways’ clients never have to maintain protocol compliance themselves.
Digital Gateways brings the local layer: integration into clients’ existing onboarding and identity processes, Polish-market compliance know-how and hands-on project support from first test to production. Through its work with Lissi, the team has direct access to the European ecosystem – standards work, Large-Scale Pilot experience and interoperability results from other member states – and can translate that into practical guidance for its clients.

Start testing with mObywatel now
Organisations in Poland that want to understand how the wallet changes their onboarding, login or verification processes can start now: Digital Gateways supports proof-of-concepts on the Polish sandbox and on further European wallet sandboxes, so that journeys can be designed and validated well ahead of the 2027 obligation. Interested banks, insurers and other regulated companies can contact Digital Gateways directly.
"Digital Gateways works with regulated organizations internationally, and in Poland we are Lissi’s only partner – the gateway for Polish banks and insurers to the European Digital Identity Wallet. We deliver the complete solution, from the first test on the mObywatel sandbox to production, integrated into our clients’ systems and supported locally. With Lissi we develop the technology further – combining our complementary experience to build solutions for markets across Europe."
Marcin Król, CEO, Digital Gateways
“Poland is one of the most advanced wallet markets in Europe, and local expertise is what regulated organisations need to adopt it. Digital Gateways combines that expertise with our infrastructure – that is exactly the kind of partner we want to grow with.”
