About us
Lissi GmbH is a startup, which was incubated at neosfer, the innovation unit of Commerzbank AG. We are based in Frankfurt am Main in Germany and have been working on the topic of identity with ID-Wallets and verifiable credentials since 2019.

The co-founders developed the company over the past 4 years and have successfully designed the spin out from Commerzbank. They bring in a vast network and unparalleled thought leadership on digital identity wallets.

Lissi is funded by neosfer, the early-stage investor and innovation unit of Commerzbank Group, in which Lissi was incubated for four years. Neosfer continues to leverage its innovation know-how to bring Lissi into the mainstream.

Lissi is funded by Ninepointfive ventures, a Belgium based independent European venture capital fund to support the accelerated and sustainable long term growth and strategic market positioning.

Trustworthy customer relationships require trusted identities.
With this vision, we develop software tools that are used for secure interactions between organisations and their customers throughout the entire customer lifecycle. Our software solutions are built on global, open standards such as Verifiable Credentials and OpenID.
Our History
Lissi was founded by neosfer GmbH and Commerzbank AG as in house incubation for innovative approaches to societal challenges. Over the years we did fundamental research, worked on intuitive applications and spoke to customers, regulators, municipalities and the civil society alike. The picture shows our first hackathon in 2019, which lead to the formation of the IDunion research consortia.

Initiating and leading the IDunion research project
Since 2020, we have been fostered by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action through the innovation project "Showcase Secure Digital Identities".
At Lissi we are the consortium leader of IDunion and work actively with companies such as Bundesdruckerei, Bosch, Siemens, Datev, Commerzbank, ING, Deutsche Bahn and municipalities such as the city of Cologne, Leipzig and Dresden on the further development of the solution and implementation of a variety of use cases.
Our European participation
As part of the revision of the eIDAS regulation we participate in the large scale pilot "European Wallet Consortium". We are mainly participating in the workstream of organisational digital identity and act as a wallet provider for organisations and end-users.

Innovation leadership
The Lissi ID-Wallet was the worlds first wallet, which implemented the OpenID4VC standard. This communication protocol will be used by every European Digital Identity Wallet. By sharing our feedback regarding the practical implementation of the new standard, we help standardisation bodies such as the OpenID Foundation, W3C, DIF and others to improve the quality of these standards.
